@commissionertedterry is holding a town hall at Porter Sanford to discuss the proposed data center regulations the DeKalb County Commission is considering. Public Service Commissioner-elect Peter Hubbard is in attendance too. The county commission is anticipated to vote on the regulations on Dec. 16. The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. There is also a moratorium in place on new data center applications, and that expires on Dec. 16. We’re pleased to share highlights from Tuesday’s ribbon cutting ceremony for Douglas County’s new Waste Transfer Station and Recycling Center located at 1730 County Services Road in Douglasville. The state-of-the-art SPLOST-funded facility replaces the previous Transfer Station which was destroyed by fire in October 2023. Effective immediately, recyclable materials such as mixed paper, plastic bottles and jugs, cardboard and more will be accepted at the recycling center. The waste transfer station will officially open to residential and commercial haulers in county and out of county on Monday, December 22. The hours of operation for both facilities are 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The following items will be accepted: - household trash - construction and demolition debris - yard waste We extend our gratitude to the community for their patience and support as our Public Works team worked to provide upgraded solutions for Douglas County’s waste management and recycling needs. #OneDouglasForwardTogether
