Work continues to move forward on the Hard Labor Creek Reservoir Water Treatment Plant, and we’re excited to share a look at the progress taking shape on-site. This project has been part of the long term vision for the reservoir since its creation in 2015, ensuring Walton County has a reliable water supply for generations to come. Our priority is making sure that households and local businesses, current and future, have access to clean, dependable water first. We’ll continue sharing updates as construction moves ahead. Thank you for supporting smart, responsible planning for Walton County’s future!

The new website offers significantly enhanced user experience, with intuitive navigation and powerful self-service modules for upgraded online payments, streamlined homestead applications, and address change requests. By transitioning away from a restrictive third-party system, the County reduced manual workloads and improved service delivery, making it easier and faster for residents to manage tax-related needs online. Yesterday, I joined my colleagues on the Board of Commissioners, along with our Community Services team, to share how Gwinnett County is stepping up to fight food insecurity and support families in need. We’re redirecting funding from our Summer Meals Program to purchase and distribute essential food and hygiene items through six trusted co-op partners serving every corner of Gwinnett. In addition, we’re hosting several free Mobile Food Distributions at 3 p.m., while supplies last: • November 4 – Lenora Park, Snellville • November 18 – Bryson Park, Lilburn • December 9 – Rock Springs Park, Lawrenceville • December 16 – Shorty Howell Park, Duluth For our older adults, Gwinnett Health and Human Services will continue to provide home-delivered meals for homebound, ill, or incapacitated seniors age 60 and older. Each participant receives a five-day supply of nutritious frozen meals delivered weekly by staff and volunteers. As we enter the holiday season, our teams will also provide more than 6,750 meals to students in our afterschool programs, ensuring no child goes hungry during school breaks. If you or someone you know needs help, Community Navigators are available 24/7 at 770.822.8850, and residents can find nearby pantries through the Atlanta Community Food Bank’s Food Pantry Map at ACFB.org. For more information about senior meal programs, call 678.377.4150. Local governments must stand in the gap during times like these. It’s our responsibility to care for the general welfare of our residents and ensure every person in Gwinnett has what they need to thrive. Together, we can keep our community strong. Yesterday, we celebrated the 20th Class of the Gwinnett 101 Citizens Academy! Speaking to this milestone class was especially meaningful for me as I helped launch this program 10 years ago to connect residents with their local government and empower them to make a difference in their community. I’m so encouraged to see so many Gwinnettians continue that tradition — taking the time to learn, engage, and show up in meaningful ways. Congratulations to the 20th class of Gwinnett 101! Your commitment to civic leadership is what keeps our community strong.
The legacy of accessible and affordable healthcare continues to grow in DeKalb County. I had the privilege of witnessing the grand opening of a state-of-the-art medical facility in South DeKalb—another milestone in a journey that began many years ago. When the Grady clinic at the Rainbow Plaza Kroger closed, I made it my mission to ensure that South DeKalb would never be without quality healthcare options. That commitment led to the successful fight for a new medical facility in the Kirkwood area. At the time, it was a significant victory for the community—and it ignited a much larger vision. A decade later, while serving as Chair of the Planning, Economic & Community Services Committee, I helped guide the development of three new medical facilities across DeKalb County. Two of these are located in District 3, where I proudly served as Commissioner for more than 20 years. I’ve now watched that vision come to life with the opening on Flat Shoals Parkway, another soon to open at Candler/McAfee Plaza, and a third on the horizon. These facilities represent more than new buildings—they represent access, equity, and the long-term health of our residents. Thank you to the DeKalb CEO and the Board of Commissioners for their partnership in ensuring that the promise made to this community has been kept. This is the work that changes lives, strengthens neighborhoods, and secures a healthier future for all. #Legacy #Healthcare #SouthDeKalb #ForThePeople #TheHonorableLarryJohnson #LarryJohnsonForSenate
